WSUS on Server 2012 Download Failed
No offense taken and thanks for taking the time to answer.
I got the error from the WindowsUpdate.log on my server and one client were I was testing the deployment, when I read through the log I notice that there was a warning that said "WARNING: Failed to get Wu Exemption info from NLM, assuming not exempt, error = 0x80240037" then a few lines after that I saw the Download failed message, So I'm going to rename the software distribution folder to .old and try again to see if that can fix the problem, I believe that my problem resides on the fact that I used to run WSUS on Server 2003 and now Server 2012 has different protocols.

WSUS on Server 2012 Download Failed
but when I deploy the updates all of them are failing to install, the error that I get is "Download Failed"
Forgive the pedantic nature of my response... but I've seen lots of people report updates as "failing to install" where the client never actuallyattempted the installation, ergo the installation didn't actually "Fail" and was never reported as "Failed", because the files were not available for download on theWSUS Server! So, with that in mind... is the "Download Failed" error coming from theWSUS Server? or from the WindowsUpdate.log? Are the updates actually reported asFailed on the WSUS console?
If the former, then we need the actual text of the Application Event Log entry that reports a specific file download failure (which is almost always a Range Protocol Header failure caused by improperly configured, or ancient, proxy/webfilter appliances).
If the latter, then the original request for the log entries from the WindowsUpdate.log will be needed.

WSUS on Server 2012 Download Failed
Hi,
Setting the HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowUpdate\AU\UseWUServer value to 0 will disable the machine to be a WSUS Client.
Did you set the proxy setting and check the DNS and network connectivity for the WSUS server to the internet. Are all the approved updates downloaded to the WSUS?Pls check windowsupdate.log on the client side to further research the issue.
regards,
Clarence

WSUS on Server 2012 Download Failed
I have a brand new Windows Server 2012 with nothing on it that we are using for WSUS only, we are using the WID so no SQL is installed, the server seems to be working properly, all the computers in my domain are reporting to the server and I can see the Updates Needed by all of them, but when I deploy the updates all of them are failing to install, the error that I get is "Download Failed" I checked the permissions and even turn of the SSL requirements just to make sure that is not part of the problem but even with that I cannot deploy correctly.
I found an article that directed me to the local machine's registry and change the key value to 0
HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowUpdate\AU\UseWUServer
If I do that my GPO will change the value back to 1, is this the right fix ? do I need to change the value in the registry in all my local machines or there is something else that I'm missing ?
Thanks for you Help.
